We started our company because we believed we could build a better mousetrap.
Our success had been in investing and finance – as senior execs and entrepreneurs who built some of Canada’s foremost financial companies.
We knew what worked – and what didn’t -- in other business models.
We also knew the last thing the world needed was another me-too investment manager.
And we knew there were thousands of successful Canadians, just like us, who had wealth spread across business and personal assets, complex balance sheets, busy lives, high expectations -- and needs that weren’t fully met by traditional investment advisors.
So in 2001, five of us started Newport Partners in Toronto, Ontario. We were our own first clients and since that time we have built our company from the ground up by focusing on three core capabilities:
- Professional money management of investable assets
- Integrated wealth management advice and problem-solving around all of the issues attendant with wealth
- Corporate finance expertise to support business interests
Today, we manage more than a billion dollars in personal investments for a national base of clients. EUROMONEY magazine ranks us among the top 20 private banks in Canada. We have been involved in the success of more than 50 companies and raised more than $600 million in capital. We have helped business owners realize over $300 million in value on the sale of their businesses. And we’re helping many more write the next chapter of their success story.
